Happy Decision Making ;)

Every single decision we make in our day to day life shapes our current reality and is responsible for what we become in life.

Any decision that you make causes a chain of events to happen.

When you decide to pick up a cigarette to smoke it, that decision might lead you to pick up another one later and an entire pack the next day without even knowing it. But if you decide not to smoke that first cigarette and make a decision every five minutes to distract your mind from it's craving, after a week, your cravings will eventually subside and you will not smoke. But the toughest part is to take that very first decision of deciding whether or not to pick up that cigarette.

What do you do when you have to take a tough decision?

Firstly, get rid of your Fear

Negative emotions like fear, panic, stress, anger, blame, etc undermine the brain's capacity to think broadly, limits the options and causes us to lose flexibility and the ability to take correct decisions.

Relax and Clear your mind before making any decision

Positive emotions increase awareness and attention and help you to take in more information which is essential to see the bigger picture, to look for an opportunity and to find solution for the problem.

Analyse the Situation

Consider a decision you are making right now. It can be a small or big decision. It can be regarding your friends, your love life, your career, your business, your health, and so on.

Look out for the main options you are considering with respect to this decision. Write them down. Now that you are done, rethink those options and ask few questions.

Which option would you wish to be living a year from today?
What would be your life like in each option?
Why?
Be as detailed as possible.

Think ahead of Time

Mentally go ahead a year into the future. By adopting a future perspective, it removes us from our present situation. This helps us to weigh the decision more consciously. What might have seemed crucial from a three to five month period passes away when we look at the situation from a one year or three years point of view.

It helps you to instantly “see” the realities of each option over time. Upon “seeing” the outcomes, you get the answer to your question. Those things that might seem important in the short term but did not matter in the long run thereby ending the decision making dilemma.

Ideal Perception

You need to adopt a different state of mind, if you want to get out of your current problem. This prevents you from making indirect decisions. You have to adopt the mindset of someone who has already solved the problem and clarity is very important to get out of your problems permanently.

When you make a decision, act on it.

Commit to making a real decision. What’s a real decision? It’s when you decide on something, and that decision is carried out through action. It’s pointless to make a decision in your head, but not doing anything about it. That’s the same as not making a decision at all. If you want to make real changes in life, you have to make it a habit to take necessary steps for your decision until it’s completed.

Take time and give careful thought to your decision

Try to examine the situation from all possible angles.Make the small decisions with your head and big decisions with your heart. Opportunities are always waiting for you but check the decisions that you currently have in the day. Are there any decisions that can be changed to improve your life in some way? Are there any decisions that you can make today that can create a better tomorrow?

Finally, enjoy the process

I know decision-making might not be the most fun thing in the world to do, but when you do it often, it becomes a game of opportunity. It's a learning process and you will understand a lot about yourself, you will feel and become a lot more confident when you’re with yourself and around others.

Decision making is never easy, but it will just become a lot easier when we make up our minds that we move forward in life. If you use all these methods and get the same answer, then it’s a clear sign that this is the path to take.
